Nitrogen (chemical symbol N, atomic number 7) is a colorless, odorless, tasteless, and inert gas that makes up approximately 78% of the Earth’s atmosphere by volume. In its gaseous form (N₂), nitrogen is extremely stable and does not support combustion, making it ideal for industrial applications where oxidation or fire risk must be minimized.
In laser cutting and marking applications, nitrogen plays a critical role as an auxiliary gas. It prevents oxidation, reduces edge discoloration, and ensures high-precision, clean cuts—especially when working with stainless steel, aluminum, and titanium.
A nitrogen generator produces high-purity nitrogen on-site using Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) or membrane separation technology.
